Why Eli Lilly is Suing ⚖️ Compounding Pharmacies | Mounjaro / Tirzepatide Patent Protection [EuvpblmR0]

Eli Lilly filed four lawsuits in Texas and Florida against medspas and compounding pharmacies. Lilly is the exclusive rights holder to their patented medication, tirzepatide. This is only available through retail pharmacies. But thanks to an obscure government rule allowing similar medications to be compounded during times of shortage, some unknown company(ies) are making a generic version of Tirzepatide and distributing it, without compensation to Lilly. The rule allows for medications on national shortage to be produced as a biosimilar to help supply of critical medications. The problem is, these companies are claiming they are selling generic Tirzeptatide, or Mounjaro, despite that not being a thing. They are using trademarked names to sell a bootleg version of a patented medication. This is a brave new world in pharmaceutical law with billions of dollars at stake.
