On the latest episode of The View, talk show host Whoopi Goldberg proudly displayed her transformed figure, revealing the results of her weight loss journey. The moment took place while Goldberg was interviewing guest fashion designer Christian Siriano, who had decorated the set with his signature designs, including mannequins wearing his creations. The conversation turned to Whoopi's impressive weight loss when Siriano complimented the set, calling it “the most stunning set I've ever seen.” The fashion designer praised the designs, which led co-host Sunny Hostin to agree, and Sara Haines revealed that all the co-hosts were wearing Siriano’s creations. Goldberg, with confidence, interrupted by asking, “You haven't seen me in my new body, have you?” before standing up and proudly showing off her slimmer physique. Christian Siriano was quick to respond, telling Goldberg she looked "incredible" and even complimenting the black blazer she wore over a chic white shirt, saying, "This coat was made for you; it's yours; you get it." The moment was met with excitement, with Sara Haines exclaiming, "Ooooooh, Whoopi!" as the co-hosts marveled at Goldberg’s transformation. Earlier this year, Goldberg opened up about how she achieved her weight loss. She revealed that she had turned to the prescription medication Mounjaro to help her shed the pounds after her weight had climbed to nearly 300 pounds while filming the movie Till in 2021. Goldberg shared that she had previously tried several weight loss methods, including taking steroids, but they were not effective. She admitted, “I had taken all those steroids; I was on all this stuff, and one of the things that has helped me drop the weight is the Mounjaro... That’s what I use." On the same episode, co-host Sunny Hostin also shared that she had used Mounjaro as well to lose weight gained during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hostin explained that her love for cooking had led her to gain extra pounds, and she turned to the same medication Goldberg used to shed the weight. Goldberg took the opportunity to speak out about the public’s often judgmental attitude toward weight, urging people to stop criticizing others for their appearance. “Maybe that’s the key. Because, listen, when I realized how much I had put on, because... I always felt like me. And then I saw me, and I thought, 'Oh, that’s a lot of me,’” Goldberg reflected, adding that despite her weight fluctuations over the years, she had never been overly concerned with what others thought of her. She emphasized the importance of individual understanding when it comes to weight and health, acknowledging that it can be difficult for people to know what a "normal" or "healthy" weight is, especially given the societal pressures surrounding body image. She added, “My weight has come and gone up and down, but it’s never been an issue for me because I don’t listen to what other people say about me.” Goldberg has been open about her weight loss in the past. In a 2014 interview, she discussed how she had lost 35 pounds after noticing that she had gained weight and was looking like a linebacker. She credited her then-co-host Sherri Shepherd for inspiring her to take action. Shepherd had been following a diet created by chef Rocco DiSpirito, which Goldberg later adopted to lose the weight. At that time, Goldberg also quit smoking, another major step in her health transformation. More recently, Goldberg faced some controversy when she claimed that a New York City bakery had refused to serve her because of her political views. While sharing some Charlotte Russe desserts with her co-hosts on The View, Goldberg mentioned that the bakery had claimed their ovens were broken, but she suggested the true reason they denied her service was due to her political opinions. The bakery, Holtermann’s Bakery, has since denied these allegations, stating that the refusal was due to a technical issue with their boiler, not political reasons. In all, Whoopi Goldberg’s weight loss journey has been a source of both pride and reflection, as she continues to speak out about body image and the challenges of weight loss in a society often quick to judge others based on appearance.
