Wearing a CGM has been great for my metabolic health in perimenopause. 1. Improve Glycemic Control Glucose levels should be generally stable and rise only slightly after meals. High variability in glucose levels can damage tissues and lead to heart disease, diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction. A study from Stanford found that even among people considered healthy by standard glucose ranges, 25 percent of them showed severe glucose variability based on CGM data, and the percentage of time spent in severe variability patterns correlated with worse metabolic markers. @drcaseyskitchen 2. Reduce Cravings Knowing which foods lead me to glucose spikes and then bad choices in food, ummm alcohol after dinner for me, PB and J sandwich also.... 3. Find the right macros for me. I do best with moderate carbs and higher fat. Different individuals respond differently to the same food (in terms of blood sugar rise), depending on factors such as microbiome composition, sleep, recent meals, and body type. 4. Sleep improved once I dialed in the foods that don't agree with me at night, Sorry @chipotle But I do better at lunch with it.... 5. I was able to get a handle on my rising cholesterol due to menopause. #cgm #insulinresistance #perimneopause #reelsofig #integrativemedicine #foodismedicine #metabolicflexibility Hi! I'm Dr. Jennifer Roelands, a CA-based double board-certified OB/GYN and integrative healthcare provider. I practice precision, functional, and integrative medicine. What does that mean?
