It has to do with a hormone called growth hormone (GH). Growth hormone is the main fat-burning hormone. It’s released by the pituitary gland in the brain. The easiest way to trigger growth hormone is to do intermittent fasting. Here’s my easy 3-step process to get started on intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting lowers your insulin. Insulin blocks growth hormone. Step 1: Have 3 meals per day. You want to start by cutting out all snacks throughout the day. Do this for three days. Step 2: Cut down to eating just 2 meals a day. If you find that you’re not all that hungry in the morning, then skip breakfast. If you’re not all that hungry in the evening, have your last meal in the afternoon and skip dinner. Again, you want to avoid all snacks in between meals. Do this for three days. Step 3: Start having just 1.5 meals a day. Have one large meal, and then have a green shake (with kale, spinach, berries, and other healthy fruits and vegetables) later on in the day. Do this for three days. Next, you can start back at step one. Some people will feel better only doing steps 2-3, rather than doing all three steps. Others will feel better when they have a period of eating three meals a day. This process will spike growth hormone significantly. Give it a try. Finally, as you eat these meals, you want to cut out sugars and carbs. You also want to include plenty of fresh vegetables and healthy fats.
