It's never new. You just thought, "Okay, I can lose some weight. I can go to the gym." I had 2 gym memberships. That didn't help. I was spin class, I was doing everything that I felt would help make that change and nothing did. I mean, I did everything that I possibly could and the surgery to me is not the easy way out. It's just a peace that it finally gives you in your life to make that change that you've always wanted to do but you just were not able to see it through. I just calculated it's been 70 pounds but it's been the best transformation of my life so it's free, it's freedom. I don't know, I just feel like a totally different person. I've learned to deal with problems. before I used to eat to deal with them. Now, I had a breakthrough. It was like I had my surgery that Tuesday. That Saturday, I just started crying and my sister and everybody in my family were like, "Well, what's wrong?" I said, "I know now, I have to get enough strength inside of myself to handle whatever challenges I face because I can no longer run to the food." the food, it's there. You go to family functions, you go to baby showers, all these different things and that food is there so you have to face that demon and look it in the face and say, "Hey, you're just food. You're only here for nutrients, you're only here for the things that I need you for. I can't let you take my life over any more." I could not have done it without the surgery. There was no way. I tried it. My girls, before having them I was 155. I have never have been this small since having them and my oldest will be 28. At first he used to say, "Oh, baby, your weight doesn't matter to me. You're fine just the way that you are. Now, he's a totally different person. We walk places, we hold hands, we go here, we go there and it's like the highlight of the whole journey. We had gone to the first playoff game for basketball, which I don't know but I think it was the Indiana Pacers and the Atlanta Hawks and I was able to put on a woman's shirt. I have never, ever put on a woman's shirt. I've always had the unisex shirts, you know, where everybody can fit. It was like seeing myself and just embracing that part of the journey, that was worth everything. You want everybody else to feel what you feel. It's just that feeling of accomplishment. You were determined for so long to lose it and now it's like, now that you're losing it, you can't believe it. It's like some days I wake up and I still can't believe it. When we were doing the makeup and everything and the pictures, I still can't believe it. I wish I was just a person that could just sit and be on the TV every day just telling people what difference it could make in their lives because I want everyone to feel what I feel.
