I wore a CGM to see if the science I’ve learned really paired with what was happening inside my body! Let’s talk about it. 👇🏼 A CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) can help you measure what’s going on inside your body and point you in the right direction if there are changes that need to be made to your diet or exercise. A CGM is great for those with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who want a more efficient way to measure their blood sugar. 🙌 How does it work? 👀 Rather than checking blood sugar manually, a CGM is worn continuously and contains a tiny sensor that goes underneath your skin. The CGM measures your interstitial glucose level, which is the glucose found in the fluid between the cells (NIDDK). It will gather data every few minutes & send that data to another device which helps give you a better reading over real time. 🔥 Here’s what I learned: ⚡Fasting helps regulate my glucose and brings my baseline lower. ⚡High-intensity training showed a spike during training (glycogen pulled from muscles to feed the training) but aided in reducing blood glucose afterwards. ⚡Steady state cardio doesn’t seem to affect my glucose positively or negatively during training. ⚡Poor sleep 😴 affected my insulin sensitivity a lot. ⚡Stress increased my carbs cravings and affected my ability to clear glucose. ⚡When you eat a cookie or fries, the glucose comes up and down multiple times before stabilizing, this is why I like fasting for 12/16hours daily. It helps regulate my metabolism everyday Overall, this is a great tool for those of you looking to learn more about your own body and how sensitive you are to both food and training.
