This condition is characterized by symmetrical hyperpigmentation on the back of the neck, sides of the neck, armpits, and certain other places on the body. The affected areas often have a velvety texture. Acanthosis nigricans is associated with diabetes, PCOS, Cushing’s syndrome, and metabolic disease. The majority of cases are considered idiopathic—meaning the cause is unknown. What this condition is really caused by is an excessive amount of insulin—or hyperinsulinemia. This is often a byproduct of unmanaged insulin resistance. On the web, you will find that the “causes” of increased insulin are related to: • Tumors • Carb malabsorption • Pancreatic cancer • PCOS • Trans fats What are they missing? They are missing the primary cause: eating too many carbs. The best remedy for acanthosis nigricans is to lower your intake of carbohydrates. Healthy keto and intermittent fasting are great ways to help get your insulin levels under control. Give this remedy a try, and let me know how it works for you in the comments below.
