Hims & Hers Health Jumps 10% as FDA Reconsiders Tirzepatide Shortage Ruling After Lawsuit #HIMSStock [zXHcZPhyH]
Tirzepatide is sold as Mounjaro and Zepbound, which are, respectively, type 2 diabetes and weight loss medicines. The lawsuit, filed by the Outsourcing Facilities Association on Oct. 7, claims the FDA made a "reckless and arbitrary decision" in depriving consumers access to tirzepatide. Rules allow compounding pharmacies to manufacture brand drugs that still have patent protection if that drug is recognized by the FDA as being in shortage. On Oct. 11, the FDA said that until their review is complete, it would not take regulatory action against compounding pharmacies and facilities making their versions of tirzepatide.
