Does you belly stick out not matter what you do to fix it causing pain or issues? p.2🙋‍♀️ Don’t worry you aren’t alone! It’s usually due to muscle imbalances⬇️ Try strengthening your deep core and pelvic floor with this exercise! Diaphragmatic breathing modified on chair in quadruped! Try 10-20 reps focusing on pulling belly button to spine during exhale! ✅✅✅ This is one of the exercises I used to heal my DIASTASIS and C-SECTION postpartum🙌 Abdominal weakness from an injury or lack of strengthening exercises can cause your belly to protrude out from decreased tone but you may also have…⬇️⬇️⬇️ Lower crossed syndrome is a postural issue due to tight erector spinae and hip flexors and weak abdominals and glutes⬇️ It often affects posture resulting in an arched or swayed back and excessive anterior pelvic tilt causing the stomach and buttocks to stick out. So even if you haven’t ever been pregnant, you can still appear pregnant due to lower cross syndrome!⬇️ In fact, you may be doing all the right core exercises BUT doing them incorrectly because of tightness in the hips (like tight hip flexors) so you will always have a swayed back or belly that sticks out!😖 I have struggled with lower cross syndrome my whole life as an athlete and people have always commented on how “skinny” my arms and legs are but commented on my “weak” core and belly “pooch” (even before I was pregnant and had a kid!) and having c-section made it worse!🥺 I finally learned how to STRETCH and STRENGTHEN correctly after getting my doctorate in physical therapy!🙌 Now I know how to dec. the sway in my low back to not only activate my low belly BUT to also protect my back from injury! I have a disc bulge and moderate stenosis at L5-S1 and an anteriorolisthesis at L1-L2 that was diagnosed by MRI at 26 years old‼️ So if you are wondering why I do what I do and why I spend so much time talking about CORE & PELVIC FLOOR strengthening it’s because I want to manage and prevent more injuries because I know better than anyone because of my job that everything gets much harder as you age!😫 LINK in BIO to my online programs to learn more home exercises!🙌 -The Belly Whisperer
