Our Registered Dietitian, Leah Silberman, shows us how to make a blueberry, banana and spinach smoothie and what ingredients she recommends. So, first, I took the liberty of adding in a frozen banana and you can, of course, use a room temperature banana, but I like the consistency a lot more when it's frozen. Personal preference. And then you add in the blueberries. The final ones are a little difficult. All right, now my mouth is going to be blue. So, next, we're going to add in milk. And probably to no surprise at this point, you know how much I value where animal products are sourced from. So, I use a grass-fed pasture-raised milk here. Next, I like to add in all of these powders and I'll explain as we go through what they are. First, I use a vegan vanilla protein, and again, I'm all about ingredients, so you want to make sure that whatever protein powder you're using is extremely clean. Next, we have spirulina. And for those of you who aren't familiar with spirulina, it's a blue-green algae, and it's a really good source of protein, but more importantly, in my opinion, it's a great source of antioxidants. It contains the precursors for omega-3 fatty acids, DHA, EPA. And it's something that I would never be able to eat plain, so I like to mask it in a smoothie like this. Next, I like to add in a bit of mushroom powder. And mushrooms in general are incredible sources of anti-carcinogenic and antioxidant compounds. So, I added in a little bit of lion's mane mushroom powder here. Lastly, I add in the spinach, this is just the final touch. And really, the more spinach, the more greens you can add in the better. If spinach isn't your thing, any green works. Micro greens are great, arugula, whatever you prefer. And we hope this all blends in one shot. And we're done. Super quick and easy, healthy smoothie, and cheers. ***
