AYURVEDA: Balance Acidity the Ayurvedic Way | Food for Reducing Acidity | Acid Reflux | Dr. Hansaji [mKVdjzTbh]
Acidity is a common digestive issue and is associated with multiple challenges; like heartburn, burping, regurgitation to name a few. There are many factors that can contribute to acidity; one common cause is the consumption of acidic foods, including citrus fruits. Citrus fruits are often associated with acidity due to their high content of citric acid. Citric acid is a weak organic acid that is found in many fruits and vegetables, but it is particularly abundant in citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits. In Ayurveda, acidity is referred to as "Amlapitta" which is a condition caused by an imbalance in the Pitta dosha. Pitta dosha is one of the three doshas or energies that are present in our body according to Ayurvedic principles. When Pitta dosha becomes imbalanced, it can lead to the accumulation of excess acid in the stomach, resulting in symptoms such as heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion. Ayurvedic practitioners believe that pitta is caused by factors such as consuming spicy, sour, or acidic foods, stress, improper digestion, and excessive consumption of alcohol or caffeine. Ayurvedic treatments for Amlapitta focus on restoring balance to the Pitta dosha and reducing the excess acidity in the stomach. This can involve dietary changes, such as avoiding spicy and acidic foods, and consuming cooling and soothing foods such as cucumber, coconut water, and yogurt. Here are some Ayurvedic tips to help reduce acidity: What is the food we should eat for Pitta doshas/ acidity? · Eat cooling and soothing foods such as cucumber, coconut water, yogurt. Certain sweet fruits, leafy green vegetables, whole grains, and dairy products. Spices like coriander, cumin, and fennel can also be helpful. · Avoid or limit consumption of foods that are spicy, sour, or acidic, as they can aggravate Pitta doshas and increase acidity. Foods like tomato-based products, chocolate, coffee, tea, carbonated beverages, alcohol, processed foods, deep fried foods, and spicy foods. · Practice stress-reducing techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga to help calm the mind and reduce stress, which can trigger acidity · Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help flush out toxins and keep the body hydrated. You can also drink herbal teas such as fennel, coriander, or licorice root tea, which can help soothe the digestive system. Make these dietary changes and balance your doshas. Remember, the key to good health is balance, so be mindful of your food choices and listen to your body’s needs. 1.07- tips to reduce acidity 1.37- What does Ayurveda say about acidity? 2.02- foods that aggravate acidity/ pitta dosha 2.22 – 5 tips and suggestions to manage acidity Visit our website at: https://theyogainstitute.org/ Download our New Meditation App - Nispand: Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nispand.com App Store: https://apps.apple.com/in/app/nispand-meditation-and-sleep/id1609608907 Sign up for our :Weight Management Workshop https://theyogainstitute.org/weight-management-workshop Register for our :200 hrs.
